Our Story

Founder: At just 20 years old, my daughter made a courageous change in life for herself and her two children by securing a home of their own. Unfortunately, she was not fortunate enough to receive housing assistance, so she worked tirelessly day after day searching for an affordable place to live. Through determination and persistence, she was able to find a modest two-bedroom apartment. I was happy to help her move in, and one of the first things we did was shop for basic household essentials. After trips to Walmart and the Dollar Store, we spent nearly $400 purchasing simple necessities such as curtains, pots and pans, kitchenware, shower curtains, toiletries, tissue, food, cleaning supplies, bedding and hygiene products.

Although my daughter could not initially afford many household appliances or furnishings, she was grateful to receive beds for her children while she slept on the couch herself. She worked hard to manage her bills and slowly purchase what she could afford. However, it was truly the kindness and support of others that transformed her apartment into a home.

Tragically, before my daughter could celebrate her first full year of independent living, her apartment building caught fire and she lost everything she owned. During that difficult time, our family was deeply grateful for the overwhelming support, donations, and compassion we received from the community.

That experience inspired the creation of this nonprofit which was established to give back to the community by supporting young mothers as they transition into new homes and independent living.
